My name is Molly Manor and I’m a freelance artist currently living and working just outside Detroit, Michigan. I make paintings and prints and a whole slew of other things for those who appreciate modern and colorful people, places, things, and ideas.
“I have a certain buckwildness of spirit so you pretty much can’t tell me ‘no’ when it comes to what I think is fly.”
This quote pretty much sums up Molly Alone in a nutshell. What this means to me is that you should love what you love without having to really defend it or explain it. And you should love it with your whole heart and be proud to display it for the world to see. I strive to make things that you can bring into your life that makes you feel this way too.
I truly believe in the power of art and it’s ability to revive one’s soul. (< I didn’t make that up, I swear! I read it in a NYT article a few years ago, so it’s legit!) What I put into my work is a light heart, and attention to every minuet detail. My hope is that this energy that I’m putting into the work is bring transferred to you in some big or small way – whether you just appreciate it, look at it, buy it, or hang it. The art that I make will end up belonging to you more than they every belonged to me.
Oh! A little more about me, I suppose? I’m married to pretty much the kindest, gentlest, funniest, most hardworking person I know. His name is Drew. We found out last February that we’re expecting our first little boy or girl this October, so that makes me about two thousand years pregnant right now. Just kidding – I’m about 9 months along! We’re unbelieveably excited and ready to meet this little person and no doubt have our world turned upside down.
Most days you can find me painting or sketching and searching for inspiration while procrastinating being an adult. Usually I’ll have messy hair and I’ll be wearing a big comfortable sweater. My artistic and personal style is about as loose as I am after two and a half Manhattans. I love spending my time living with a full heart. Whether I’m painting, talking with people, or thinking alone, I strive to be present in the moment, appreciating life as it comes and goes – day by day, moment by moment.
Thank you so much for visiting and spending your time with me!
