I’ve never really been a watch person, or a bike person, or a very cool person – but Shinola makes me feel differently about all three of those things.
Shinola feels like Detroit’s promised land. When I walk through the doors of their showroom on W. Canfield, I feel like I’m catching a glimpse of the hope that’s has been ingrained in every Detroiter’s soul for the last two or three years. This is what the “new” Detroit is going to look like – it’s going to be modern, it’s going to be innovative, and everyone will be wearing really cool watches.
I’m one of those creepy people that walk around Shinola with a smile of my face, for no reason other than the fact that it feels really good to be in a space that is not only beautiful, but hopeful.
It was such a pleasant way to spend a Wednesday night. My family and I were there to support my sister who helped put on an event at Shinola to raise funds for Loyola High School – an institution that is doing so much to ensure the vitality of the city for future generations.
